چکیده
In this paper, we review recent experimental studies on single-phase and multiphase flows in microchannels. Brief overviews of physical phenomena of fluid flow in microchannels, and measurement techniques mainly in conjunction with the flow visualization, are given. Regarding the studies of single-phase flows, the current state-of-the-art of electrokinetics and optofluidics is outlined. Then the studies of multiphase flows are reviewed in terms of solid-liquid, liquid-liquid and gas-liquid flows, and in view of their appropriate functionalities and applications. In particular, a systematic evaluation of lateral migration of particles in microchannel flows is discussed.

Numerous experimental results indicate, that the microscale flows are essentially different from flows in large scale [1], [2]. The continuum Navier-Stokes approach, suitable for large sale flows, is not applicable to small scales. At the same time, however, there exists an extension of the Navier Stokes approach, also based on the assumption of a continuous medium the micropolar fluid mode...

متن کاملNumerical Study of Reynolds Number Effects on Flow over a Wall-Mounted Cube in a Channel Using LES
Turbulent flow over wall-mounted cube in a channel was investigated numerically using Large Eddy Simulation. The Selective Structure Function model was used to determine eddy viscosity that appeared in the subgrid scale stress terms in momentum equations. Studies were carried out for the flows with Reynolds number ranging from 1000 to 40000. To evaluate the computational results, data was compa...

In this paper, using vortex blob method (VBM), turbulent flow in a channel is studied and physical concepts of turbulence are obtained and discussed. At first, time-averaged velocities, and , and then their fluctuations are calculated. To clarify turbulence structures, velocity fluctuations and are plotted. It is observed that turbulence structures occupy different positions and move with con...
